Instructions for downloading and installing Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 Update-4 (rev. 100831).

This is an old CMS 6.2.0 update.

This is a product Update. Sitecore recommends upgrading to this release when the fixes included in this release meets specific needs of your organization. If this release does not include specific fixes that your organization requires, you may benefit by waiting until Sitecore releases a Service Pack for this series before upgrading.     Choose this link to download the setup.exe installation program (everything you need to get started).

  • Download a ZIP archive of the Sitecore CMS site root (159 MB, ZIP archive)

To upgrade a previous Sitecore CMS 6 version to this release:


  • Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 rev. 091012 or higher.
  • If your Sitecore solution is based on an earlier version, then you must update to Sitecore 6.2.0 rev. 091012 before you install this update.

This update requires the following files:

Important: Do not install 6.2.0 Update-4 if you plan to move to the initial 6.3.0 release (rev. 100716) or 6.3.0 Update-1, since the issues that are resolved by 6.2.0 Update-4 will be resolved in 6.3 Update-2.
Follow the steps below to upgrade an existing Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 installation to Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 rev. 100831 (also known as 6.2.0 Update-4):

  1. Back up the site.
  2. Update the Web.config file.
    If you are upgrading from Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 rev. 100701, you can find the exact strings to update on the Web.config Changes page.
    If you are updating from the one of following CMS 6.2.0 releases: rev. 091012, rev. 100104 or 100507, you should also apply the web.config changes associated with the previous updates:
  3. Open the Update Installation Wizard by entering the following URL in your browser: http://<hostname>/sitecore/admin/UpdateInstallationWizard.aspx.

  4. Install the Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 rev. 100831 update package using the wizard:
    1. Upload the update package using the wizard.
    2. Analyze the package.
    3. Install the package.
  5. If you have Sitecore OMS installed and you are updating from Sitecore CMS 6.2.0 rev. 100104 (or earlier), you must update to OMS 1.1.1 rev. 100507 (since OMS 1.1.1 rev. 100831 is identical to rev. 100507).
  6. Clear your browser's cache. For instance, in Internet Explorer this is done via the menu Tools » Internet Options » Browsing History » Delete » Delete Temporary Internet Files.
  7. Rebuild search indexes and the link database in the master and the core databases. You can do this using the wizards available via the Sitecore desktop link Sitecore » Control Panel » Database.
  8. If you are updating from 6.2.0 rev. 091012: Check if any of the Sitecore log files contain warnings that one or more Sitecore performance counters do not exist (hint: search for "Using temporary internal counter") or that one or more Sitecore counters cannot be instantiated because the category is marked as single-instance (hint: search for "single-instance"). To resolve this problem:
    1. Download
    2. Unzip the archive.
    3. Run the SitecoreCounters.exe program to re-register the Sitecore performance counters.
  9. Reiterate the update procedure for every Sitecore instance in your Sitecore environment.
