This is a product Update. Sitecore recommends upgrading to this release when the fixes included in this release meets specific needs of your organization. If this release does not include specific fixes that your organization requires, you may benefit by waiting until Sitecore releases a Service Pack for this series before upgrading. Follow the steps below to upgrade an existing Sitecore CMS 6.4.0 installation to Sitecore CMS 6.4.0 rev. 101124 (also known as 6.4.0 Update-1):

  1. Back up the site.
  2. Open the Update Installation Wizard by entering the following URL in your browser: http://<hostname>/sitecore/admin/UpdateInstallationWizard.html
    See the Update Installation Wizard Guide for more information about how to use the wizard.
  3. Install the Sitecore CMS 6.4.0 rev. 101124 update package using the wizard:
    1. Upload the update package using the wizard.
    2. Analyze the package.
    3. Install the package.
  4. Update your web.config.
  5. Clear your browser's cache. For instance, in Internet Explorer this is done via the menu Tools » Internet Options » Browsing History » Delete » Delete Temporary Internet Files.
  6. Rebuild search indexes and the link database in the master and the core databases. You can do this using the wizards available via the Sitecore desktop link Sitecore » Control Panel » Database.
  7. If you are using client languages other than English, check the Client Translations page for updated translations. If updated translations are available, we recommended that you download and import them.
  8. Delete the <webroot>/temp/dictionary.dat file to regenerate the Dictionary (only necessary if any of your editors use other client languages than English).
  9. Check if any installed modules need to be upgraded to a newer version to be compatible with Sitecore CMS 6.5.
  10. Reiterate the update procedure for every Sitecore instance in your Sitecore environment.
